It’s been a bit quiet from me over the last year, what a year!
There’s an interesting bit of English racism that has it that a Chinese person might wish you “live in interesting times”.
It was never a Chinese proverb, much less a facet of a Chinese personality. The “Chinese Curse” was an English invention, which capitalised on the prejudices of the day, to smear the reputation of anyone without white skin.
We still repeat the phrase today: May you live in interesting times.
Well, we DO live in interesting times, and like the racist “Chinese Curse”, this is a consequence of our own invention. Us English folks seem to have brought upon ourselves “Interesting times”, and true to our traditions… blamed it on other people!
You see, this is why I spent ages not writing blog posts or sending any email newsletters. No one wants to read this sort of stuff from a sheepskin seller.
With this in mind, may I lead you warmly towards our latest, authentic, offering. Outdoor British sheepskin – raised free range on wild Dartmoor; eating mixed sward of herbs, grass and “weeds”. The challenge of the weather causes strong and stable fur growth. The mixed food types provide low energy with high nutrition. This is a diet geared towards steady growth of quality meat, rather than just growth alone.
All our sheepskins come as a byproduct of the meat industry – this doesn’t help the sheep in question whatsoever, but it does mean that no sheep are killed for their skin. Instead, millions (very much the majority) of sheepskins are destroyed as food waste every year.
And so, it is with a certain pride that we trade the products that we do. In fact, we believe so strongly in the modern value of these ancient items that we will continue to trade them in both “dull” and “interesting” times alike. And that’s the truth!
